The Safra Center for Brain Research

The ELSC Brain Research Center is one of the most interesting and unique buildings built in Israel in recent years. This is the first project by the renowned architect Norman Foster of Foster + Partners Architects, London, combining cutting-edge architecture with advanced technology and environmentally-friendly thinking. The architect’s vision was to create a façade to reflect the building’s function and serve as an architectural icon that would attract world-class scientists.

For this purpose, we implemented a shading system made of aluminum panels processed according to the shape of the neurons in the human brain, about 600 units of 1.5 / 3 m, each uniquely designed and anchored to the curtain wall randomly and in different places. Precise execution, attention to details and close cooperation with the architects’ office helped make a final product that met the original vision of the building’s designer – the world’s first neuron façade.
